This converted railcar was once Great Northern Railway (Ireland) Co Ltd (GNR(I)) bus - AEC Regal IV - new in May 1956. It had a Park Royal dual purpose body and seated 40. It carried Reg No ZY 1715. In Oct 1958 it passed to Córas Iompair Éireann (CIÉ) as AU345. It was withdrawn about 1973 and acquired by Bord na Móna to be converted as a railcar.
This railcar is probably the inspiration for the MarK Fielder model described in the railbus section of his site. The model is based on a Dornplas plastic kit for the Bristol LS Bus, the chassis is from the Marklin 4 wheel railcar.
